At Hermitage Roanoke, our Dining Services Department exceeds high expectations! Our elegant dining room provides a feel that fits the poised laid back character of Roanoke. Residents, family and friends enjoy dining al fresco on Casselwold’s patio to enjoy the mountain views, the mature trees and the incredible weather of the Shenandoah Valley.
We offer an array of cuisine from fine dining to home-style southern cooking. The regular menu includes home-style soups prepared fresh each day, a salad bar option at lunch and supper and two entrée choices accompanied with several side dishes. Some of our residents like to order from the Chef’s Choice of The Day Menu or The Sandwich Board.
Our culinary team takes pride in the catering services it offers as well. We have an extensive catering menu to assist family and friends with event planning. Several times a year our department hosts a theme dinner and invites the public to these events. The dining services team is very well trained. Our Chef, is highly experienced and brings much enthusiasm to our community. He likes to liven things up with food and keeps life interesting for us all! A Consultant Registered Dietitian with a master’s degree in nutrition rounds out our department. She is extremely knowledgeable and helpful with our residents’ special diets.
We invite you to visit and experience the joys of dining with us. Making others happy makes us happy!
We have nothing but praise, thanksgiving and love because we have been treated royally. The menus are creative, the chef is creative, the hard working waitresses and waiters are great, attentive, loving and caring. The joy of the Lord is their strength.
My sister and I would like to express our thanks to you and to the staff of The Hermitage in Roanoke for helping us celebrate the 100th Birthday of our aunt, Roberta Copenhaver. As you know, we live in Maryland, 300 hundred miles from Roanoke. This caused us considerable concern as to how we were going to arrange her party. We knew that she would not be able to travel easily to another facility, nor did we know of any place where we could host this event. Delaine Caldwell, Susan Robertson, and Josh VanAuken met with us on several occasions and assured us they could help us make this event a wonderful and beautiful event.
Through them, 70 plus family and friends were feted to a beautiful celebration in the Virginia Room. They worked with us to arrange the room the way we wanted it. Chef Josh and his staff prepared the delicious food and arranged everything quite elegantly. We received many compliments, but we had to give your staff the credit. Needless to say, we could not have been happier. Roberta even said that this party was exactly what she wanted.
Again our thanks.
The food was good, service was fast. Everyone was friendly. Nice atmosphere. The rolls were good. The peach cobbler was warm and yummy!
Thank you for a great dining experience.
We have a talented Chef, a wonderful kitchen staff and lovely caring waiters and waitresses who treat us so well.
God bless each one of you.

The location here is great. It’s close to everything and the transportation service is excellent. Whether it’s a doctor’s appointment or shopping, there is always transportation scheduled. We looked at other communities, some with tiny apartments that would not serve our purposes

I think the amenities and activities are great but what has really impressed me is the fellowship—there are some mighty fine people here. It’s a great place to make friends.
